No, but wanting to protect your family, your friends, and your life against someone who might threaten it is probably a pretty natural impulse.

But then I'm from the fairytale town that was hidden in a forest on the edge of Maine, so maybe that's just me.

Not completely? Everyone was brought over from the Enchanted Forest during a curse. I've fought a dragon before, but Maleficent was the only one Regina brought over and it was kind of a revenge move.
