So he wasn't-- [--'dead,' but Wanda's own wounds are fresh and she can't quite bring herself to say it. From what she's heard of Loki, it's not that surprising.] I'm glad you found him, but I am sorry you needed to.
[She's glad for an out, though...and really, how could she not ask if he's going to phrase it like that?]
Yes, that kind of help. [She manages a wry grin. This is the second time someone's figured out that she knows Steve before she's brought him up. How much trouble has he gotten into?] You know him?
I do, he's on the guard with me. [ and he tends not to make a secret of the fact that he used to run around superhero-ing. neither does Tony, for that matter, so it's not hard to put two and two together with that group. Wanda seems like she could hold her own, it was a guess in the right direction.]
He's one of the good ones. Kind of reminds me of my dad a little - not that I'd tell him that.
[ not when he's one of the few she's talked about home with.]
[Wanda's a tactile person, so even though she doesn't know Mantis, she doesn't flinch away. It's the sort of gesture she'd expect from a friend. But she doesn't expect the sudden rush of emotions behind that touch, something much stronger than everything else she's feeling. There are fewer boundaries, no way of telling where the calm ends and her own thoughts begin.
Wanda doesn't try to fight it. It doesn't stop the pain, but it gives her a stable base to start from to finally shove the ambient emotions out of her mind. Much better. And just like that, the crippling headache is gone and Wanda still feels much better than she would normally. Wow.]
Thank you, but...what did you do? [Wanda knows what she did - she can do something similar, after all - but she's never met anyone with powers like hers. ]
[Wanda takes his hand and scrambles through the gap. Better not to find out if they can actually get hurt in these visions, especially after what had happened to Steve and the others. At least she still seems to have her powers.]
If we find somewhere safe I think we can get back.
( Anders doesn't want to have to step into another memory. He wants to get out, get away from these visions so he can take a moment to process everything that he's just seen. His hand wraps tight around hers, making sure they aren't going to get separated before he steps through the opening.
And out onto El Nysan soil. Wind and rain from the Storm whips against his face as he tumbles out of the illusion, making it hard for him to see. He turns toward her, his free hand glowing blue as he weaves a protective barrier around the both of them. )
We need to find shelter quickly. This spell won't last long.
[Wanda shrieks as they stumble back into reality and immediately get pelted by the storm. Anders reacts before she does, and the respite gives her a chance to push her sodden hair out of her eyes.]
I can shield us if you need me to take over. [It's just rain. She can handle that.] Where are we?
( It's hard to see anything past the darkness and pelting rain. There aren't any landmarks within sight, but Anders knows his directions well enough to get them moving north, toward Olympia. )
The city might not be too far off, but we should still keep our eyes peeled for some sort of shelter.
( There are all kinds of ruins everywhere. They should be able to find something. )

What is this 'space stuff?'
