[Some things, like hot chocolate, aren't that different from potion-making. And she'll be right here the whole time, so hopefully nothing will go too terribly?
She moves with him as he gets started to find an unobtrusive (or as unobtrusive as being this close to him can be) place to stand at his side and rest her cheek against him.]
Yes, and you need to keep stirring. Even chocolate can't be saved if it burns.
[As always, her comforting warmth gives him confidence, and if his free hand snakes around her for an embrace, well, it shouldn't affect the chocolate too much.]
Slow and steady. Like the moonblossoms with the dreaming potion.
[He drops them in, tiny sprinkles of dark against the thick white milk, and continues stirring slowly until the liquid turns a darker shade, and then adds more chocolate. Here and there a bit of spice, and it begins to smell simply divine.]
[Holding him like this is perfect and Wanda has to stifle the urge to lean up to kiss Vision's cheek. She doesn't want to accidentally sabotage him with the distraction of kissing. It can wait a few more minutes, and until then she has the comfort of their casual embrace.]
Just like that, Vizh.
[After a while Wanda grins and glances up at him.]
[The advantage to it just being the two of them (and of being, as far as he knows, completely impervious to disease) is that he can just use the stirring spoon to taste his creation directly. It's very good, but missing...ah, there it is. He sprinkles just a bit of chili powder into the hot chocolate and stirs it up.]
There. Would you mind getting the mugs, dearest?
[The marshmallows go in last so they don't melt, he remembers that much.]
[Wanda grins and kisses his cheek - now that it's done, she can indulge them both. She has no intention of leaving his embrace just yet, however, and so she uses her magic to open a cabinet and levitate two mugs over to the counter.]
I can't wait to try it. And I'm sure it will be good with the pastries.
[Wanda blows on it first with a tiny bit of power behind the action. Vision may not be able to burn his mouth but she certainly can, and she doesn't want this memory tainted by accidental injuries, thanks. That done, she takes a sip, closing her eyes to better savor the flavor. The extra heat was a nice touch.]
Mmmmm...it's perfect, Vizh.
[She leans up to kiss him gently on the lips.] Just like you.
[This time, when she kisses him, Vision feels a light chill along his spine. For the first time, he's tempted to open up his mouth to that kiss, taste her with his tongue...but he doesn't, not yet. He needs to examine this first.
It shows in his gaze with a little bit of fire, more than usual. And he does squeeze her back with his free hand.]
[She notices that subtle shift in his expression and it brings more heat to her cheeks. Oh, she wants to kiss him again... but the tarts aren't getting any warmer. And she doesn't want to push too much, too quickly.]
We're a good team.
[Okay, she can be good, but her willpower doesn't go far enough to refrain from one last caress of his cheek before they return to the table.]
Come on. I'll summon some chocolate croissants we can eat with this too.
[Breakfast is delicious and charming, and Vision feels ever so slightly proud that he contributed to it for once. He'll have to do so more often, when they don't just feel like conjuring food, of course.
All the while, he's pondering and discarding ideas for what to do today to celebrate the holiday. There's nothing so pressing that it cannot be done tomorrow, but the snow is still deep enough that going for a walk in the woods might be something of a chore rather than a leisure activity. Going up to the little nook by the altar today is an absolute must...hmm. At a lull in the conversation, he decides to explore that thought a bit further, speaking slowly.]
Wanda? Are there any magic rituals you'd like to perform that are, er, powered by love? That is, I don't mean sex per se, but love. [He talks quickly to move past that bit, displaying the nervous tics that he has in place of blushing. He's not ready for that, not yet, but maybe--maybe the things leading up to it.] Because I would think this would be an ideal time to perform them, if so, and I, er, well, I'm willing to try them out, if you are, and, well--
[Better interrupt him before he loses his train of thought entirely.]
[He doesn't get to verbally flail much longer because Wanda's leaned over to kiss him. She's thought of doing a lot of things with him as they've grown closer that she doesn't voice: deeper kisses, soulmate magic, sex with or without magic...but if it's something he wants too, she could never deny him.]
What do you think of a protection spell? I could cast one for anyone, but for you...for us, it's different. We don't need a talisman. We can use our bond to weave a little of our power into each other.
[She smiles warmly and reaches up to stroke his cheek. It's purely based on love, but already the thought of this has her blushing. It's still a far deeper intimacy than anything they've done before, and that's what gives the spell its strength. It can be temporarily depleted, if enough power was brought to bear against it, but it can never be broken or taken away. Just like their love.]
There's...there's a lot of kissing. And it would bring our minds closer-- you would be able to feel what I feel without a special link.
[He listens carefully, a smile growing as she describes the spell. Especially the kissing part. And the chance to weave their power together permanently - he loves the sensation when they work together on a spell. Being able to draw on that any time has a unique appeal.
He grabs her hands and squeezes them, still warm from the hot drink he's been holding.]
That sounds perfect. And you could feel me without expending your powers, once it's built?
It wouldn't matter how far apart we are. You would still feel me when I need to leave to trade things.
[And vice versa: there would be no more worrying about whether the other is safe. They would know. And they would always have the warm glow of the other's love no matter where they are.
Wanda leans in to kiss him again, but this time she lingers.]
Come upstairs with me?
[They need no tools for this, only each other, and so Wanda leads him upstairs and to the little nest of pillows and blankets. It's grown quite a bit since the first time she brought him here. If she sees something comfy when she's out, well, now she has a reason to buy it and bring it home.
She settles on her side and pats the space next to her.]
I think you will need to take your shirt off, love. I need to be able to touch over your heart.
[It's not a problem for her since she never properly got dressed. Her nightdress is rather low-cut and Vision can easily access as much of her as he'll need to. But his shirt is definitely in the way.]
[Vision takes off his shirt without hesitation before joining Wanda in the nest of blankets and pillows. This is one of his favorite places in the house, for reasons both obvious and not-so-obvious: it's an excellent place for a romantic encounter, yes, but it's also where the magical energies that surround them gather in a way that feels utterly comfortable to him. It gives him a strong sense of belonging in the pattern of things.
Today's ritual should only enhance that feeling.
Some of his runes are beginning to glow a bit, anticipating what's going to be happening here soon, and once he's settled he catches the side of Wanda's face with his hand and inhales the scent of her, ending with a light kiss.]
[Wanda is only able to stare at him in awe for a brief moment, heat coming to her cheeks in anticipation.]
You're so beautiful, Vision, [she says in a hushed, reverent tone. It's always his eyes that do her in, but absolutely everything about him is irresistible to her. The sight of so much bare skin, the soft glow of his runes, the warmth in his gaze...it's momentarily too much. And the kiss only leaves her wanting more but-- she has to focus.] This is perfect.
[Fortunately for them both, the first part of the ritual is quite pleasant. Gently, Wanda rests a hand over his heart, marveling at how warm and soft his skin feels. It soothes something deep within her and slowly the butterflies in her stomach start to calm.]
Do you feel what you do to me, Vizh? Just one touch and nothing else matters. Only you.
[He'd be lying if he said he didn't know what kind of effect this would have on her. His skin is so different than a human's - its color, the runes, the metal bands, all of it - in every way except its warmth. That was deliberate; he'd found pretty early on that he could adjust it, and they were both most comfortable with him being just a tad warmer than her usual body temperature.]
You are what matters most to me, Wanda. Always.
[But he can feel the energies starting to gather around them, anticipating the ritual she has planned. There will be time for more kisses soon enough.]
Tell me what I need to do. Or is the first part all yours?
I think...I think it might be too intense if we tried to do it together. And we have all day. [She smiles, lightly stroking the strip of skin between the metal plates on his chest.] I don't know what this is going to feel like either, but I want you to be comfortable, love. That's all that matters.
[And she is, as always, mindful that anything that might feel intense to her could easily feel overwhelming to Vision. So Wanda keeps her eyes on his face to watch for any discomfort as her hand begins to glow and power starts to flow into him.]
Is this all right?
[Her awareness of him sharpens; she can feel every breath, every beat of his heart. His mind feels so bright and warm and welcoming that Wanda has to consciously fight to keep the flow of her power gradual. She's always found Vision's presence magnetic, but the pull she feels to him now is even greater than when she links their emotions. This is different somehow, tugging at something intrinsic to her being, and if Vision's still doing okay Wanda won't be able to resist kissing him.]
[His breath hitches as her power flows into him, but it's not discomfort. It's a sense of fullness and warmth, and he's meeting her at her kiss halfway. One hand comes up to tangle in her hair gently and before he knows it his eyes are half closed and his mouth half open - very unusual compared to his typical butterfly kisses. not too much, though; he's still shy, and he pulls away after a short time, breathless.]
Yes. Yes, this is all right. Your power--
[He leans toward her ear, whispers in a husky voice.]
I feel it inside me. Can you feel me as I do you, my love?
[She melts for him just as he does for her, closing her eyes as they kiss and fully giving herself over to the feel of him. It had been so overwhelming the first time she touched Vision's mind that she'd cried from the sheer force of his love. Wanda might still cry before the day is done, but over the months he's helped heal her heart until she's no longer so starved for affection. She wants him, always, and being able to kiss Vision with more passion than usual is a special kind of ecstasy. His mere presence has made this house a home.
And soon it won't matter how far apart they are, they'll always carry the warmth of the other's love.]
Vision...
[Wanda makes a sound somewhere between a sigh and a moan, shivering and clutching Vision tighter. She's never heard his voice do that before...and she loves it.]
I feel your love all around me. I feel my heart reaching for yours. [She kisses his cheek, trying to be careful not to overwhelm him with passion. But she could happily stay in his arms just like this forever.] I knew this would feel good, but you are so much more than I could have dreamed of. I love you, Vision.

Carefully, he pours the pan of beverage into the two cups and tops them liberally with marshmallows, presenting one with a flourish to Wanda.]
For you. Do let me know if I've got the spices right?
[Although since he's just following a recipe, it should all be correct.]
